Samsung PM1733 supports the PCIe Gen 4 interface – delivering twice the bandwidth compared to PCIe Gen 3. Specifically, it achieves sequential read speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s and sequential write speeds of 3,500 MB/s. For random 4K read workloads, the PM1733 can reach up to 1,500,000 IOPS – one of the highest performance levels among SSDs today, making it especially suitable for read-intensive applications such as databases, big data analytics, AI/ML, or virtualization.

Samsung equips the PM1733 with a series of cutting-edge technologies never before seen in its enterprise SSD lineup:

• Fail-in-Place (FIP): Automatically detects NAND errors and relocates data to a safe area without interrupting operation.

• V-NAND Machine Learning: Leverages big data analytics to predict NAND cell status more accurately, ensuring reliable storage and recovery.

• Power-loss Protection: Uses tantalum capacitors to provide sufficient energy to transfer data from DRAM to flash in the event of sudden power failure.

• SSD Virtualization: Allows one SSD to be partitioned into up to 64 virtual drives, while supporting SR-IOV technology to reduce CPU overhead and minimize the number of required physical drives.

Flexible Configurations and Endurance Options

Samsung PM1733 SSDs are available in two optimized endurance profiles:

• High Capacity, Standard Endurance (1 DWPD): 1.92TB, 3.84TB, 7.68TB, 15.36TB – ideal for read-heavy workloads with light write operations, such as VM storage and big data analytics.

• High Endurance (3 DWPD): 1.6TB, 3.2TB, 6.4TB, 12.8TB – designed for continuous write workloads like OLTP databases, caching, or large-scale logging applications.

Both types come in a 2.5-inch U.2 form factor, consume around 20W during operation, and function within a temperature range of 0–70°C.
